Logo Contest

SPECS, DEADLINES, COMPENSATION

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2027 Salish Sea Kelp Festival Logo contest! Please use the mock logo on the right as a guide to the imagery and wording we would like included. We welcome your own artistic interpretation.

Design Requirements

The design should feature sugar kelp or bull kelp and include the following text:

• San  Juan Islands, WA circa 2027
• Salish  Sea Kelp Festival

Submission Guidelines

Please submit a hand-drawn concept; it does not need to be highly detailed. You may also include a sample of your work that supports your idea and a brief narrative explaining your concept.

Final artwork must be created without the use of AI. The selected artist may sign the finished piece, provided the signature does not dominate the image.

Use of the Artwork

The selected artwork will be used in letterhead, marketing, posters, programs, advertising, social media and on the website, and on T-shirts for the 2027 Salish Sea Kelp Festival.

Compensation

The selected artist will receive $250 upon delivery of the final artwork, plus 10% of net proceeds from sales of T-shirts featuring the artwork for the 2027 festival. Net proceeds are defined as:  T-shirt sales revenue remaining after direct production, printing, and selling costs have been deducted. Payment timing and applicable costs will be agreed upon in writing before final work begins.

Submission deadline is 10/31/26, the winner will be announced by November 5, 2026 and we ask that final art be submitted by January 1, 2027.
